Kedarkantha Trek

Winter Trek Garhwal Himalayas

The Kedarkantha winter trek stands out as one of the most accessible treks in the Garhwal Himalayas, offering a captivating journey through the snowy landscapes of Uttarakhand. The trek covers an overall return distance of approximately 28 kilometers, starting from Sankri, a quaint village nestled in the Jaunsar region of the Uttarkashi district.

The trail leads trekkers to the summit of the Kedarkantha Peak, towering at an altitude of 12,800 feet above sea level. The summit rewards adventurers with a spectacular panorama of the surrounding region. The mighty peaks of the Supin Range, including Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, and Black Peak, encircle the valley, creating a breathtaking backdrop. Additionally, the summit offers views of the Dhauladhar range in Himachal Pradesh, the Rupin Valley, and the Har Ki Dun Valley, extending down to the dense settlement of Purola.

One of the distinct features of the Kedarkantha winter trek is the opportunity to experience local organic cuisines and stay in homestays in Sankri. This not only adds a cultural element to the trek but also provides trekkers with a chance to immerse themselves in the warmth of local hospitality. The trek is particularly popular for its accessibility, making it suitable for trekkers of various experience levels.

The winter season transforms the landscape into a snowy wonderland, creating a magical ambiance along the trail. As trekkers ascend to the summit, they traverse through snow-laden forests, meadows, and pristine landscapes, making the journey both challenging and enchanting.
